AmeriHealth Caritas Announces Pathways to Work — A Job Readiness Initiative
Helping families to achieve financial stability through employment
AmeriHealth Caritas announced a new workforce readiness initiative today, Pathways to Work. This 12-week program is designed to provide foundational job readiness skills and increase economic opportunity for residents in all corners of the District of Columbia.
AmeriHealth Caritas is committed to assisting District residents with gaining entry into the job market by helping them develop employable skills. The 12-week Pathways to Work program integrates basic computer and customer service skills training in a classroom environment in tandem with an on-the-job internship at AmeriHealth Caritas District of Columbia, the DC-based member of the AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies.
This balanced approach provides participants with overall job readiness, relevant career certifications and the skills necessary for entry-level positions in a broad range of industries and companies. Through Pathways to Work, participants also receive guidance from experienced mentors, education regarding work/life balance, financial literacy, and job placement support.
Unemployment negatively affects communities, and the psychosocial impact of living in poverty erodes several critical factors related to being healthy.
“We are pleased to launch this initiative incorporating an intergenerational approach which focuses on families with children. By participating in the program and with our support, District residents will have the opportunity to build pathways to stability and prosperity. We are providing resources to help those in need of job readiness support who are eager to improve their skills and become employed,” said Karen Dale, Market President for AmeriHealth Caritas District of Columbia.
After completing the program the next step is to successfully connect these participants with local employment opportunities.
