AmeriHealth Caritas District of Columbia Announces Contract with MYidealDOCTOR to Expand Urgent Care Offerings

August 26, 2019 - Washington, D.C.

AmeriHealth Caritas District of Columbia, a mission-based Medicaid managed care plan serving more than 100,000 residents of the District of Columbia, announced today that it has contracted with MYidealDOCTOR, a provider of cloud-based telemedicine and mHealth services.

This new alliance offers AmeriHealth Caritas DC members the option to connect with MYidealDOCTOR’s network of providers for treatment of urgent health issues via phone, video, or mobile app. The collaboration will expand health care access for AmeriHealth Caritas DC members in urgent situations when they cannot meet with their designated primary care provider or get to a contracted urgent care clinic. MYidealDOCTOR is one of the many contracted providers that comprise the AmeriHealth Caritas DC network of providers.

“AmeriHealth Caritas DC’s collaboration with MYidealDOCTOR reinforces our commitment to investing in innovation that will help remove barriers to care for our members,” said Karen Dale, Market President of AmeriHealth Caritas District of Columbia. “This initiative demonstrates both organizations’ desire to expand access to high-quality care while reducing unnecessary visits to the emergency room and urgent care clinics.”

“We are proud to work with AmeriHealth Caritas DC and offer its members immediate and round-the-clock access to health care that doesn’t need to be delivered in a conventional setting,” said Adrian Davis, CEO and founder of MYidealDOCTOR.
